Education and Experience
Requires 24 months CCI experience as an Electrician II. OR High school diploma or GED, 2 - 5 years of related experience, plus documented technical/vocational/military training certificate. OR The equivalent combination of documented education/technical/vocational training, or work experience to satisfy the above requirements. Electrician’s license may be required or willing to obtain.
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position.
- Must have completed formal electrician apprenticeship training.
- Must be able to reference and understand National Electrical Code.
- Repairs/installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, conduits, cables, equipment, and appliances. Uses hand tools and testing equipment. Inspects and tests electrical equipment, lighting, signal, communication, and AC & DC power circuits up to 480VAC.
- Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment using general and specialized testing equipment.
- Replaces faulty switches, sockets, and other elements of electrical systems.
- Dismantles electrical machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts such as gears, brushes, and armatures.
- Mounts motors, generators, transformers, and lighting fixtures into position and completes circuits according to diagram specifications.
- Works from drawings, blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Must be able to follow directions, function in both a team environment and work independently as assigned.
- Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in the testing and repair of electrical components. Knowledge of the related tools and equipment. PLC experience a plus
- Overtime & Travel – The individual should anticipate changes in the work schedule to include overtime; position requires travel and overnight stays.
- Frequently exposed to adverse temperatures and weather conditions.
- Willing to travel in and out of state, with little or no advance notice.
- Valid state drivers license required.
- Must possess the ability to wear applicable safety equipment (Personal Protective Equipment) including; hard hat, safety glasses, steel toed boots, hearing protection and FRC (Flame Retardant Clothing) and hand gloves.
- Required to push, pull, turn and position parts and tools. Lifts and moves heavier items with the assistance of other workers and with lifting devices such as jacks and hoists. Performs strenuous work while standing or sitting. Frequently lifts objects weighing up to 75 pounds. Constant lifting, bending, stooping, carrying and reaching while standing and/or sitting. Physical requirements also include twisting, turning, reaching, kneeling, climbing, grabbing, pushing, pulling, hearing, seeing, touching, smelling, and talking.
