    Castleton Commodities International (www.cci.com) is hiring a Controller to join our Stamford office. This position will focus on the accounting for five recently acquired Power Plants (Granite Shore Power). This person will also liaise closely with operations and accounting personnel at CCI’s US Power Asset locations as well as with finance organization of CCI and other assets.

    Responsibilities

    This team is responsible for maintaining the books and records of Granite Shore Power (GSP) group of companies.  This individual will share responsibility in producing information for management, for external reporting and for ad-hoc requests. This will entail working closely with other teams within Assets/Corporate/Merchant Controllers groups, as well as across the firm (e.g. Treasury, Financial Accountants, Operations and Systems Personnel).

    • Serve as business partner with commercial personnel while providing general accounting oversight and financial guidance/consultation
    • Ensure that the appropriate financial control framework and safeguards are in place to operate and accurately report the financial condition of the organization in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies
    • Responsible for the preparation and completion of GSP’s monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement.
    • Oversight of day to day accounting activity.
    • Responsible for the monthly financial accounting process which includes but is not limited to:   account reconciliations and agings, consolidation process, disbursements and receipts are properly recorded, bank reconciliations performed and management reporting
    • Management of Accounts Payable/Receivable functions to ensure payments are completed to suppliers within agreed timeframes.
    • Assist with the preparation financial statements and various audit schedules
    • Various ad-hoc projects
    • Carry out any other functions delegated by Controllers organization.

    The candidate will also be encouraged to work closely across all functions, identifying opportunities to improve processes and controls, and   building a function which becomes scalable and more efficient over time.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
    • CPA preferred
    • At least five years of public accounting experience is preferred
    • Experience in financial accounting, and experience in wide variety of general accounting functions, including maintaining general ledger, analyzing accounts, resolving discrepancies and financial reporting.
    • Experience in commodities trading or power/utilities industries is strongly preferred
    • Ability to organize multiple responsibilities, prioritize workload and perform multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Ability to work independently and propose solutions
    • SAP and Microsoft Dynamic knowledge is a plus
    • Proficiency with general ledger system
    • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel
    • Strong analytical and documentation skills
    • Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
    • Detail-oriented
    • Travel: For the 1st three to four months travel to New Hampshire up to 50%, up to 20% from there on
